  • Jorge is a native of the USA Island Commonwealth of Puerto Rico;
  • Graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU)/Baton Rouge, Louisiana with a B.S. Degree in Business Administration and a major in International Trade / Economic Development
  • Spent more than 30 years in the economic development / industrial promotion business in Puerto Rico, Atlanta and Chicago USA
  • Ventured into two overseas contract assignments in two countries:
    • Worked as an Economic Development / Export Industry Development Consultant with Arthur Young & Company (today Ernst & Young) on a special project in El Salvador, Central America, during the country’s ten-year civil war. (Sept ’86 – Aug ’87)
    • Later worked as the first International Trade Director for the new Curacao International Trade Center, located on the Netherland Antilles (Dutch) Island of Curacao in the southern Caribbean Sea. (May ‘88-August ‘90)
  • Operations Manager for TROPICO, a high-technology / bio-tech experimental quasi-public/private program on the island of Puerto Rico (Sept ‘90 – June ‘93), involved in late-staged R&D, and early-phased commercial development projects on the island
  • Joined the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) 17+ years ago as an Economic Development Specialist working in three unique SBA Program areas: 1) the Veteran and Service-connected Disabled Veteran, 2) the Hispanic entrepreneurial community, and 3) the SBA’s International Trade/Export-oriented incentives programs, all of which target the small business communities in the State of Georgia
